Evaluation
and Work Adjustment Training and Extended
Employment
Center based
services can be offered alone or in combination with any other of our community
based programs. Intake and case
management are provided for all individuals referred.
VOCATIONAL EVALUATION / ASSESSMENT
Is generally
utilized as part of the career planning process to help an individual identify
an appropriate career goal. Identified
during the process are the individual’s learning style, strengths, interests,
aptitudes, and areas of need. The
evaluation process generally utilizes real work in combination with formal
testing materials. An evaluation
generally lasts 5 weeks but can be shorter or longer depending on the need of
the individual and the referral source.
WORK ADJUSTMENT TRAINING
Helps build and
improve job keeping skills and behaviors.
Typically the goals of the Work Adjustment Program will target those
work habits in need that were identified during the Evaluation process. Work Adjustment Training (WAT) is a time
limited program (generally 9 weeks) which focuses on attendance, punctuality,
grooming, increased work output, improved work quality, communication skills,
job seeking skills, and career exploration.
Depending upon outcomes and goals,
the individual may then exit into Sheltered Employment or one of our
Community Employment Services.
SHELTERED / EXTENDED EMPLOYMENT
Is available as a
transition step to community based employment for those individuals where more
time or training is needed to better prepare for other employment, and a
productivity level of at least 20% of a competitive standard can be
maintained. While attending the Center
as an “Extended Employee”, the individual may have opportunity for training or
employment in these areas: Food
Services, Building Maintenance and Janitorial, Manufacturing, Materials
Handling, and Machine Operation.
Opportunities for offsite community work crews are also offered. Once an individual is ready for community
based employment, a smooth transition can be arranged utilizing our own
employment services team.
