School to Career Options
Intake and case management are provided for
all students referred. The following
SERVICES are individualized in cooperation with the Child Study Team, student and family. Any combination of these services can be offered in a number of venues. One will be right for you!
ASSESSMENT
Trained staff conduct comprehensive vocational evaluation of current and future employment needs and training, and offer recommendations. Testing can be done on-site at the Abilities Center or at the setting of choice for the family and/or sending district. A comprehensive assessment can include a variety of modalities including:
- Functional
- Situational
- Formal
- Testing
CENTER BASED FULL DAY PROGRAM
Half day functional academics including specials. Coordinated in partnership with Gloucester County Special Services School District.
Half day Career Exploration including paid work experience. Center based work experience includes janitorial, light industrial, materials handling and food service. Community job site rotations alternate with center based experiences.
CAREER EXPLORATION HALF DAY PROGRAM
Academics and specials provided by home school.
Half day Career Exploration including paid work experience as noted in Full Day Program above.
Classroom Job Readiness Instruction including job search techniques, resume writing, and related.
JOB COACHING PROGRAM
All academics and classroom instruction provided by home school
Part time employment developed with an appropriate work site
Follow along coaching, training, and support provided to employer and student.
TRANSITION SERVICES
Experienced case management staff help the student and family smooth the way from school to work prior to graduation
Assistance with registration with DVR (Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services) or other appropriate adult service entity
Smooth transition into Abilities Center adult programs or connection to other appropriate service
Early assessment – a variety of state of the art vocational testing is available to assist in mapping out a transition plan
