Abilities Center of Southern New Jersey has been delivering" job solutions" since 1963 through its various services. (A series of current Fact Sheets with detailed descriptions of services will be available on this web site by 12/31/2011.) Currently, the Center provides the following services to meet the contemporary needs of its consumers and the community-at-large:

Vocational Evaluation Short-Term or Long-Term, Available at Mobile Locations

This is a pivotal service, providing an opportunity for exploring interests and directions for the future.

School-to-Career Services

Students with physical disabilities, developmental or mental health disabilities will all benefit from this program. We have the staff and capacity to help students make the critical transition after high school, learn about their strengths and gain work experience at one of the businesses in our local network.

Community-Based Employment/Supported Employment

Community-Based Employment, also described as Supported Employment, promotes sustained employment among people with disabilities. A job coach supports the consumer in theirs goals to find and keep a job. It is regarded as the most successful workforce development model for people with disabilities and other disadvantages who face barriers to full employment. Abilities Center of Southern New Jersey is one of the largest providers of supported employment and among the most experienced.

Transitional Work Experience

Transitional Work Experience is designed to provide real and simulated work experiences and optimally position the consumer for a successful transition in seeking and retaining employment.

Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc

This charity provides trained guide dogs to the blind at absolutely no charge. They also include training in using the dog and will pay for room and board, all equipment, and round trip transportation.
