South Jersey Industries Pledges $15,000
to Abilities Center of Southern New Jersey

            FOLSOM, N.J. - – South Jersey Industries has committed $15,000 to the Abilities Center of Southern NJ, Inc., a non-profit corporation whose mission is to develop employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and other disadvantages to enter or reenter the work force through education and training.  The $15,000 commitment will be awarded in increments of $5,000 over the next 3 years.

            South Jersey Industries’ donation will go towards the Center’s expansion plan at their facility in Westville, NJ.  The Abilities Center intends to add a 20,000 square foot warehouse, which will be used primarily as a training facility for the hundreds of individuals the Abilities Center serves daily in the South Jersey area.  The project is set to be completed by year end of 2008. The Abilities Center’s board made a decision to undertake this project in response to phenomenal growth and the attendant need for additional training and inventory space.

            Yesterday, Edward J. Graham, chairman, president & CEO of South Jersey Industries gladly presented Susan Perron, President & CEO of the Abilities Center of Southern NJ, with the company’s commitment.  “We are delighted to help such a deserving organization. The Abilities Center’s unique position in the community as an employment training provider, as well as an employer maximizes their ability to assist individuals in the South Jersey community with disabilities,” said Graham.  “South Jersey Industries is thrilled to play a role in the Abilities Center’s expansion project and continued future success.”

“The Abilities Center of Southern New Jersey is honored to accept this important contribution from South Jersey Industries,” said Perron.  “We are proud to be a vibrant organization in workforce development for the region, serving our consumers and the community-at-large.”

            The Abilities Center of Southern NJ, Inc. has served Gloucester, Camden, Atlantic, Salem and Burlington counties for over 40 years by training people with a wide range of disabilities and other disadvantages and assisting in employment placement.  The Center also works with students in a school-to-work capacity and welfare recipients looking to reenter to workforce.
